Learning about Clocks!

Today we learned about clocks, so thanks to Pinterest I found these cute make it yourself clocks that allowed us to talk about the numbers that go on a clock as well as the different hands and what they mean. The students enjoyed making their clocks and wanted to take them home however we will be using them tomorrow to work on time to the hour. It was a super simple project only requiring paper plates, two colors of construction paper, markers and a brad. To make it a little easier for my first graders I pre-folded the orange squares (so that they would be close to the same size) so all they had to do was cut them out and write on them. I also made the green arrows because they were a little more complicated. Not only did it teach about the clock but it allowed for more number writing practice which we are always in need of!
